I have lived in Sweden for seven months now, and worked almost as long as that at IBX. I have never worked longer than this without , as I am used to max 6 months of work before school or leave take over. Now I have some hard choices to make! You know the feeling when you love your work, but don´t as well? I really enjoy my time at work, but I don´t enjoy _the_ work. I didn´t go to NTNU to do application support and troubleshooting. Hardware is more my thing, and software administration. So what do you do when you feel that the day when you can´t do this anymore is creeping up on you? I know what my brain does, it gives me three choices:

1. Move to Copenhagen, Trondheim or Oslo – start over
2. Frak it all, go travel!
3. Chase an absurd urge to do something that fascinates me, for the time being.

The most obvious choice is to either change jobs internally, or try to find something else. Running from your job/situation is silly as the same situation will present itself in Oslo/Copenhagen. One difference here though is the fact that I know more people there, but I am starting to meet more people here as well, although having family and really good friends in Oslo is appealing. Traveling is kinda out of the question because I only have enough for a around the world ticket and 2-3 months worth of living. The last one on my list is absurd! I get silly urges, and this one is the silliest of them all I want to drive the freakin Metro trains. Not as a career, just a couple of months. It pays even less than my current job (which is nothing to write home about), must be a lonely job, has to be booooring as hell after the initial excitement of driving a train wear off, so why do I want to do it? Beats me!! Metro systems have always fascinated me. Someone should let me drive a train for 3-4 hours, so I could get it out of my system.

Now I will have to fight my urge, delete all travel pages from my bookmarks, throw away lonely planet, realize driving a train isn’t as fun as it looks, explore/investigate other possibilities within (or outside) IBX, stop thinking the grass is greener on the other side (or city), more?

Well, I spoke ahead of time! Seems like fighting has broken out between the good guys and the bad guys.. Take today: In the morning it was cloudy, but kinda warm. Noon was HOT and sunny. Afternoon was cloudy and hot. Evening was rain and cold. Then lightning and thunder… Yeah, and there were some winds too. Its like we get the whole specter every day now.

Lucky for me, the people of Stockholm aren´t as open as I thought they would be, so I don´t miss anything Even though I have met some people here, I have yet to “break through” with anyone. Kinda weird, being used to a social life that meant doing something most of the time. I guess the “big city” phenomenon is present. It´s all about the groups of friends, and the colleague/friend difference (tabu, oo0oo, haha).

I dont mind though, I am booked for the next 6 weekends anyway

I want to travel again! My god, I want to go travel.. You know the feeling if you got it. Best described as that feeling you have when you are at an airport, waiting for your flight. So you go to work, and stay there 8 hours, and go home, and sleep, and the cycle begins again. But for what? Yeah, you have to wait for your flight! It feels like forever, and when you think they start boarding, they dont! No, just 5 more minutes! You stand in queue. Business class first. You wait. Any moment now! The backpacker inside me screams! I start looking at my pictures. Lets pick up where we left off. It´s not that easy anymore when you have a job.

I need to board that flight soon! Or I´ll go mad =)

I will never be happy with another cellphone again! I switched phones at work, and got myself a Sony Ericsson P1i! Weee, you´d think? Nah! I think I will never be gadget happy again :/

I had a short day at work today, got off at 1400.. and I am not happy! God (or whoever you worship), this working thing just isn’t for me! I need a million dollar idea, and retire ASAP

They say IT is hot in Norway now… I miss Norway!

My dad bought a new Tiguan.. droool!! I just might have to fly home in May and test drive.. for a week!

I worked out yesterday! After 10km my Nike+iPod sensor in my shoe started whining about low battery, I called Apple: It was made in 2006!!! Yeah, great, Stadium crap store!

I just signed on to a 5.2% interest rate for the next five years on my student loans! HAH! Take that economy!

Today marks an end! The end of my life as an all-day movie watcher, photographer, couch person, xbox player, internet time spender, youtube watcher etc! I got a job! I will be working at IBX, at the service desk, with something IT stuff, you will know more when I do =) BUT, now I have to face it. I am old! I got a full time job, WITH benefits, christ, haha So say bye bye to all the “helge” you see in the picture, “work helge” is arriving monday!

Oh well, new challenges =)

Well, I am applying for jobs.. I had an interview with the people doing Apple Care in Scandinavia. Interview went well, they pay crap… I had an interview with Dell! Interview went well, the job is freakin´ 1-1,5 hours away from my place, pay is “supposed” to be good but I really don´t know. What the frak is a man supposed to do ? I have to apply for more jobs… I am calling Kelly tomorrow…

I just installed Aperture 2, YAAY, finally! An Aperture with improved speed, improved speed and let´s not forget, improved speed! But what? Erh.. I didn´t hear you? Aperture does NOT support Sony a200 RAW images? frack! I am screwed…

I had a job interview yesterday, went well, I will be having a second interview Thursday. It is for a computer company, kinda big one, we all know em´:) If I et the job I will post some details, if not, this was all a joke :p

I arrived in Stockholm yesterday, and spent today sightseeing My dad is here with me so we have strolled around with Alexandra taking pictures and playing tourists! He leaves tomorrow morning, and so, life in Stockholm starts. I have a job interview tomorrow, so wish me luck..

This is the day when I move! Finally some might say, damn it others might say.. Myself? Meh, i´m in between..

I kinda am going to get some work experience, and Stockholm might be the sweet spot for a norwegian chap like myself. The other side of the story is of course the experience of living another place for a while. Not having my travel-nerve tickled for a while, moving somewhere else kinda pleases me.

Downsides are of course leaving my girlfriend in Trondheim, but hey, its only a flight away (and flights are dirt cheap atm. screw the environment, i wanna see my girlfriend ) Leaving friends and my princess Leah will also be weird.

Else, except an apartment situation that never seems to calm down, there are only positive things to this. And if it all goes to hell, I´ll hop on the first train to Trondheim and voila, life is back to normal

I love the winter. I love the snow. I love the cold (sometimes). Now that that´s out of the way here goes! Every time Helge goes snowboarding, hell freezes over! The forecast for today was -7 centigrade, which is OK! Sure enough I overslept this morning, and had to rush myself. So I put on my winter stuff, layer after layer, and we hit the road towards the ski place. Then my buddy´s BMW starts malfunctioning, or I thought so, cause the thermometer started showing -14 … -16 … -20 … -22 .. I mean, WTF! So when we arrived it was -16, IT IS ALWAYS -16 WHEN I GO SNOWBOARDING. Every freakin year..

Ok, it was pretty fun. New snow had arrived, so there was a thick layer of powder snow in the mountains, orgasmic to snowboard on.

Cause some places had -20 centigrade here, all the trees and everything is frozen. I didn´t bring my camera, but I swear nobody outside Scandinavia would believe it was real if I would have taken pictures. It is just plain magic how beautiful it is outside when it is that cold.

Thats about everything on my mind… I´m out!
